“The Engagement of Civil Society with stakeholders to create social space, fostering equality, fairness and sustainability”

Mission
The Center for Civil Society and Nonprofit Management (CSNM) has three main missions as follows:
1. Development of Capabilities for Civil Society Organizations: To enable civil society to collaborate effectively with other sectors, including the government and business sectors, CSNM will develop capabilities in various areas for civil society, such as project management, organizational management, financial management for small organizations, strategic leadership for change, and policy advocacy. This capability development may take the form of training programs or customized capacity development processes, consulting, and guidance. Furthermore, CSNM will collaborate with the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences to support teaching programs in accordance with Khon Kaen University’s lifelong learning policy.

2. Driving Change through Research: CSNM benefits from the “human capital” of the university, which has experts and skilled personnel in various academic and research fields, and can mobilize to meet the needs for the growth of civil society. Especially, using research to drive the participation of civil society in public affairs that lead to change. In this aspect, CSNM collaborates with agencies or organizations that fund research both domestically and internationally, such as the Together project (USIAD), the Thailand Environment Institute, EU. MEKONG ROK COOPERATION FUND (MKCF), etc.

3. Creating Cooperation among Networks: The participation of civil society in public affairs and driving change requires cooperation from various parties. To create this cooperation, there must be a “platform” or space that facilitates the related parties to exchange knowledge, coordinate, and create a common agenda for society. CSNM recognizes the importance of “cooperation” to lead to change.
