Course Description
Community-Based Learning (CBL) is a learning approach that incorporates community into the teaching. It can be done in many different ways such as community integration and adaptation, community-based learning processes, living in and working alongside a community and engaging in their activities, as well as understanding community-based problem solving to empower community development.
Objective
1) To gain deeper understanding of community-based learning principles and tools
2) To build participants’ capacity in steps and processes of community-based learning so that they can use related tools for participatory community development.
3) To enhance their learning skills and empower them to become active participants of their own learning about the community
Course Structure/ Content
1) Concept and Principles of Community-Based Learning
2) Essentials of Community Study: Urban and Rural Communities
3) Community-Based Learning Tools (such as focus group discussion, observation, interviews, Geo-social Mapping, Community Calendar, Timeline, etc)
4) Designing a Community-based Learning (Preparing for fieldwork)
5) Community Integration, Community-Based Learning Logbook, Community Participation, Community-Based Problem-Solving
6) After Action Review Tool (AAR) to summarize lessons learned from fieldwork
