On June 5, 2017 USAID-Funded Civil Society Partnerships project (CSPP) under Khon Kaen University’s Center for Civil Society and Nonprofit Management (CSNM) joined Environment Day in theme “Returning Cleaning River to Nam-phong” at Nong-Wai Reservoir and Maintenance Project, Nam-phong District in Khon Kaen Province. This event organized by 10th Regional Bureau of Environment together with Nam-phong River Reservation Group, local authorities and private sector.
Locally, the Environment Day has various and interesting activities such as flee the fish into the river, sailing and sight-seeing along Nam-phong River, campaigning and exhibition by students from school and university, planting tree and ritual on conserving the river as well as public seminar in returning cleaning river to Nam-Phong.
In seminar session, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Buapun Prompakphing shared concept idea toward “development of eco-industrial town” which plays significant roles on Nam-Phong River ecology systems. It relates to inter-connections among communities, industrial factories and environment equally and sustainably. In relations to governance, Dr. Buapun stated that all stakeholders must collaboratively pull together on eco industrial town development.
